The more cooperation and organization that students show will definitely lend to a greater chance of achievement by everyone in class! If the academic atmosphere is interrupted so that maximum learning is hindered, the procedure will be as follows:

1st offense – Verbal warning from teacher

2nd offense – Teacher penalty before or after school (note sent home)

3rd offense – Contact with parent

4th offense – Office Disciplinary Referral

Grades will be entered into the grade book system within 7 days of the assignment due date.

Retesting is intended for the occasional difficulty with content mastery. When

students retest on a regular basis, parents will be contacted, and a study plan

will be developed if needed.

*Course Description:**The sixth grade Math 6/7 course will be a balanced one for mathematical growth in concepts, skills, and problem solving. There will be a strong emphasis on relating mathematics to the real world through critical thinking and mathematical reasoning. Some of the topics we will be focusing on are decimals, measurement, data analysis, statistics, geometry, fractions, proportions, percents, integers graphing, probability, and an introduction to algebra. The TEKS for this course will be covered extensively. *Course Requirements:**“Eanes ISD Middle School teachers are committed to grading and assessing in the best interest of our students. We believe grades and assessments communicate content knowledge, guide instruction, and reveal opportunities for enrichment and intervention.” Grades will be computed based on the following:***Major**– 60% (Summative assessments: Unit Tests, Projects, Semester/Benchmark Exam)**Minor**- 40% (Formative/Summative assessments: Quizzes, Projects),Grades will be entered into the grade book system within 7 days of the assignment due date.

**A student who is absent on the day an assignment is due will receive a “2” in the grade book until the assignment is turned in. If the assignment is not turned in, the student will receive a “2” as a grade for that assignment. Students are required to maintain an 80% or higher on assessments.***Retest Policies***:**There will be three major grades each quarter, plus a cumulative quarterly exam. **The following will be needed on a daily basis: composition journal, paper, pencil, and a math folder with prongs. Consumable textbook (McGraw Hill) will remain in the classroom.
